Waterlooville's Parish Magazine

FINANCIAL UPDATE

There is now a requirement to publish more widely our finances at St George's due to changes in the Charities Act and Church Accounting Regulations, effective from January 1997. I shall therefore be providing information on a regular basis in the Parish Magazine and I list below the items I have dealt with since taking over as Treasurer.

The retiring collection for the USPG during April totalled £114.71.

The Christian Aid retiring collection during May was £144.50 and the house to house collections co-ordinated by Fiona Ross amounted to an additional £277.50.

St George's share of the proceeds of the Havant Clarinet and Saxophone Choir concert on the 20th May was £77.50.

As at 21 June 1997 parishioners have donated £267 towards the cost of baptism and marriage booklets totalling £370.

To recap on facts already published in the Sunday Bulletin. The Parish Luncheon made a profit of £48.97 plus raffle proceeds of £40.10 both donated to the Organ Fund. [An update on the Organ Fund will be published in the next magazine]. The Church Army received £258.62 as the result of the Coffee Morning on May 10th organised by Betty Keyte.

Receipts received are always displayed on the large noticeboard in the Church Hall. And not forgetting the Fête realised a magnificent £1526.09 on June 21st.

I have included items as requested by the P.C.C. but if any member of the congregation would like to see additional details published please let me, or the Vicar know.

More good news! The Inland Revenue have refunded us £3,418.67 through the Deed of Covenant Scheme for the past tax year. If you are a basic rate tax payer and do not already do so, please consider covenanting your church giving thus increasing the value of your contribution by nearly a third at no extra expense to yourself. Please contact John Millard our Honorary Recorder for further information.

May I also take the opportunity to remind those of you who run organisations within the parish (Mothers' Union excepted) that at the end of the financial year (which runs from January to December) I shall need a full statement of income and expenditure for each group / event for inclusion and amalgamation with the annual accounts, thus giving a true picture of all our financial activities.
