YOUTH CLUB REPORT

The Summer term has proved to be as eventful as ever, with the opportunity for more outdoor activities. In April, seven of our group were confirmed by The Bishop of Portsmouth. These were Daniel Eustace, Kaylie Allison, Chloe Watt, Martin Smith, Daniel Thatcher, Claire Watts and Carly Aylmer. We were delighted to have so many from the Youth Group and our congratulations to them all.

We had a talk by Father Robert on the Eucharist service, several games evenings, and a Karaoke evening. We went Ten Pin Bowling again (always a popular evening!) and had a bike travelling supper, finishing up at Glendene where unfortunately it was too cold to swim. We had a super long weekend visit to Fordingbridge and The Moors Valley Country park with bike rides, games and an evening together with the Fordingbridge Young Peoples Group. We slept in their parish hall and all attended church on Sunday. Our thanks are due to Rosemary and Colin who organised the weekend and to Rosemary's Mum and Dad, Eileen and Peter, who helped us out with accommodation and any problems. We had a stall at the Summer Fête raising some £40 towards the final total of over £1500 (thanks to Martin who turned his bedroom out and gave us lots of toys) and we went on a visit to a friend's house where they keep a menagerie of snakes, spiders, unusual frogs, etc. We all had the opportunity to hold many of the snakes including their 11ft pet called Paula!!

We were very lucky with the weather on our regular Youth Club camp at Glendene. We went orienteering round QE Forest (thanks to Julia and Ian Watt who organised that) and ice skating and the usual parish cricket match on the Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately few of the congregation supported the cricket, but some loyal parents turned up to make the game playable. A lovely evening barbecue followed.

Sadly we have lost three of our members this term, Martin Smith, Gareth Race and Richard Dyer and we wish them well.

At the time of writing we are looking forward to our final event, a Beach Party and the Parish's Knockout Competition, after which it is a well earned summer break for our Youth Leaders; which reminds me... many many thanks to our Leaders, Jane and Tony, Rosemary and Colin and Dick who turn out every week to make our Youth Club one of the best in this area.
