The October 1997 On-Line Edition of

St George's News

Waterlooville's Parish Magazine

FINANCIAL UPDATE

Not much to report for this edition as things have been fairly quiet during the summer holiday period. Nevertheless funds still need to be found to pay our regular standing commitments the largest of which is our £2,417 Quota payment to the Diocese every month. This is St George's share of the costs of the church's ministry - clergy costs, running the diocese, training future priests, the national church etc. - based upon the assessed ability of each individual parish to pay.

By way of interest our total planned giving figure for 1997 is estimated as £21,900 from the envelopes and direct debit payments, including a tax refund of approximately £3,000 from covenanted offerings. Simple arithmetic shows that actual planned giving falls way short of providing sufficient funds to meet even that one cheque I have to write every month. Food for thought?

The contribution to the Organ Fund from a most enjoyable recital given by Elizabeth Bainbridge and Stella Starr has now risen to a splendid £454. And the first £45 has already come in from the Smarties scheme again in aid of the Organ Fund.

Please continue to generously support all our vital fund raising activities.

More facts and figures next time.
