OBITUARIES

Lena Kelloway

Lena was born and educated in Portsmouth. She met her husband Harold at St Mary's Mission and they were married at St Mary Portsea in 1939.

Lena worked for the Landport Drapery Bazaar which was destroyed during World War II and then for Flemmings Naval Outfitters and part time with the Auxiliary Fire Service with the defence of the city.

Harold served with the R.A.F. and they moved to various stations at R.A.F. Gloucester; R.A.F. in Germany and R.A.F. Northwood until he retired and they came to Waterlooville in 1958, where they have lived in Sunnymead Drive.

They have a daughter Rosemary, 2 grand-sons and 2 grand-daughters.

The family have been the centre of Lena's life.

Lena and Harold have been faithful and regular worshippers at St George's and loved the old Prayer Book services. Recently Lena has been receiving Holy Communion at home because of the problem of painful arthritis.

We send our prayers and sympathy to Harold and his family in their loss.

May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

George Mancz

George was born in Hungary from a Hungarian family. He came to the United Kingdom after World War II in 1948, aged 29, as a refugee to escape the Soviet occupation of his country.

He worked in Oldham as a factory worker and met Winifred in Manchester in 1953. They were married at St Paul's Slough in December 1953, Winifred's home parish.

They lived near Derby where George became a factory foreman with a fabric making company before moving to Slough in 1958 to be near Winifred's parents. Then they moved to Leytonstone in Essex where George became an ex-ray technician at Whipps Cross Hospital until he retired in 1984 and they finally moved to Waterlooville.

They have a daughter and 3 sons, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

They have both been regular and faithful worshippers at St George's since they came. We send our sympathy and prayers to Winifred and her family in their loss.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
