FINANCIAL UPDATE

The retiring collection during April added a further £90.75 to the funds for St Mary Axim, Ghana. Together with Lent Boxes containing £27.85 the grand total currently stands at £475.72 and will be dispatched shortly.

The Lent Lunch in the hall on March 21st raised £60.50 for Christian Aid. Forty-nine St George's Day gift envelopes were returned realising £264.42 for general church funds. Interest and dividends from our investments during the first quarter of 1998 provided an income of £980. The regular four-monthly visit to tune and service the organ cost £85.78 and the provision of envelopes for the planned giving scheme for the new year commencing in August cost £116. Our share of the proceeds from the joint concert by the Havant Clarinet and Saxophone Choir and St George's Youth Band held in church on 28th April amounted to £85.17.

Lastly, the Fête, held earlier than usual this year on a glorious warm and sunny May 16th, made a net profit after taking expenses into account of £1,667.41 compared to £1,526.09 last year, an increase of 9.26%, a magnificent return for everyone's hard work.
