Fr Samuel Addison of St Mary's Axim

Fr Samuel Addison of St Mary's Axim, with his wife Theodora and son Theophilus

It was suggested to me that the letter from Seth Bondzie, the Parish Secretary of St. Mary's, be printed in the magazine for the benefit of all those who very kindly contributed to the wonderful amount raised and also for general interest: -

'Dear Madam,

'Yours of September this year in accordance with the discussions which took place in a form of correspondence has been received with much delight and thanks and the contents there in were fully comprehended.

'On the l4th day of September, 1998, the Priest, the wardens and secretary were informed by our Bankers, i.e. the Ghana Commercial Bank (G.C.B.) Axim Branch of money being transferred into our accounts here. As soon as we heard that our whole mind were focused on the whole family of our brothers up there in England i.e. Saint George's Church.

'To our joy and for your information up there the amount sent to us here in Axim, was £476 as was stated in the letter which arrived a week after the money.

'At moment we do not know what to say in accordance with what you up there have done and have been doing towards the upliftment of Axim St. Mary's Anglican Church, all the same there is nothing to do than to say, what the whole family of Axim St. Mary's Church, 'SAYS THANK YOU' St. George's Church. Continue like that.

'May the good Lord richly bless all of you up there in England. Greetings to every body in the Church.

'P.S. Son of Fr. Addison is Theophilus Addison. Wife of Fr. Addison is Theodora Addison (Mrs.)'

Again, sincere thanks to David Palmer for arranging the Transfer and to Linda Wainwright, our Treasurer, for her part in the transaction.

(The amount collected from the retiring collection during September for St. Mary's, amounting to £102.00 has also been transferred and should be credited by the time you read this).

Thank you to everyone who has helped to raise these amounts. They can and will make such a difference to our Christian brothers and sisters. Seth's letter, in 1997, informed us of the fact that the heavy slates on top of the building were forcing the rafters to break. Lighter ones were required. The Church also needed a public address system. It is likely that some of the monies will be used for these two main items but, hopefully, Seth will keep us informed in the future as to the life and work of St. Mary's.

Please continue to keep St. Mary's on your prayer list. Be assured that they are praying for us.
