Barbara Thackray (92)
Barbara Thackray was born at Haverfordwest in South Wales.
She left for nursing in East London when only 17 or 18 and became a Ward Sister at the Highgate Hospital in North London then the Southampton General Hospital.
She met her husband Harold Thackray in the 1930's and they moved about to various places at home and abroad as he was a Civil Engineer with the Admiralty, eventually coming to Waterlooville to their home in Hunters Ride in 1962.
Barbara was a regular worshipper and communicant at St George's for many years and recently has been receiving Holy Communion at The Lodge, Lavender Road where she moved a few years ago and in Acacia Nursing Home.
They have two sons Michael and John and we send to them and her grandsons Richard and Christopher our sympathy and prayers in their loss.
Following her funeral at St George's and cremation her ashes have been buried in the churchyard. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
