YOUTH CLUB REPORT

Canal Holiday through to Christmas

Our last report was made just as we were about to leave for our canal holiday at Braunston in the Midlands. Well, as you can see we made it back despite some pretty atrocious weather (many canals overflowed their banks - but not ours luckily). All the children learned varying amounts about how to handle a 70 foot narrow boat and how to work locks and by the end of the holiday we had a pretty efficient team. We all fed very well and got our boat back safe and sound and on time which was lucky seeing some locks became impassable during the week. We visited Warwick at one end of the trip and the beautiful canal museum at Stoke Bruerne at the other.

Back home our bonfire night was a great success again despite bad weather and we raised nearly £100 for Naomi House the Charity which we decided to adopt for our Fund Raising.

We entertained the Cathedral Youth Club at an evening's games/party and await their call to a return match at the Cathedral.

The term finished with a Saturday morning trip to the Spectrum pool at Guildford (a popular choice) and our annual Christmas Party.

Sadly we have said goodbye to Daniel Eustace who has been a regular member for many years now. Hopefully we will see him at Link Group events, but until then many thanks to Daniel who has helped the Leaders on many occasions not least on our last five canal boat holidays where he has always been a tower of strength and common sense. Thank you, Daniel...

With ever increasing numbers we have found it necessary to introduce some stricter standards and to increase the emphasis on Christian behaviour. Hopefully this will not deter too many and overall will work for the general benefit of the club.
