NOTES FROM THE P.C.C.

P.C.C. Meeting, 25th February 1999

Mrs Mancz took the chair, in the absence of Father Malcolm who was not well.

Quotations have been received for cutting down the four yew trees, and the lowest of £450 has been accepted.

A new hall noticeboard has been completed - graffiti is a problem now it looks so attractive! A Millennium committee has been formed.

The majority of time was spent scrutinising the 1998 accounts for acceptance by the PCC, to be then presented for discussion only at the APCM. These were accepted. The Chairman thanked Miss Wainwright, treasurer, for her diligent and conscientious work in producing and maintaining the parish accounts.

The treasurer then outlined the provisional budget accounts for 1999, details can be seen at the back of the church, attached to the PCC minutes.

Pastoral committee are focusing on a party for those children who have been baptised at St George's. The old, bereaved, sick, lonely and disabled are also on the agenda. An Alpha or Emmaus course is to be organised in the autumn.

Fabric: the iron fence has been completed, the ramp, canopy and roof are in hand. Relatives of the bereaved who have memorial stones within the iron fence will be given the security number of the iron gate, and the PCC will assess whether this is the best method. We have permission (until November 2000) to remove the old gravestones and dispose of them.

Deanery Synod: Mr Bradshaw reported on the meeting held on 9 February - see full minutes.

Church Warden: We are out of line with the duration of one of the churchwardens. Should there be any objection to Mrs Mancz standing for a year, we will appoint someone from the PCC to stand.

Junior Choir: Junior Choir pay is to be increased by 10p on a graduating scale. This would amount to £2 per week.

Church Hall: The PCC have agreed to a comprehensive structural survey likely to cost approximately £1,000. This was recommended by Mr Rice Oxley, before we spend any more on repairs.

The Chairman thanked the retiring members for their valued work during their three years in office.
