OBITUARIES

Ann Plummer

Ann was born at St Neotts in Huntingdonshire into the family of Bull. She worked as a shop assistant at John Lewis‘s in Oxford Street, London, where she met and married Billie Plummer in 1930.

Billie Plummer was involved in the hairdressing industry and they moved to Birmingham and Manchester and eventually settled in Wallis Road, Waterlooville in 1946, together with their only son Colin who was born in 1933.

Ann Plummer was an active Christian and regular communicant and became involved with the life of the Church at St George's serving on the P.C.C. for many years, and the bazaar taking a full part in the life of the church. She was a member of the NSPCC committee and the RBL committee and a collector. She was also a keen bridge player and was President of the Merchistoun Bridge Club at one time.

We send our prayers and sympathy to Colin Plummer and his family in their loss. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

Elizabeth Florence Atrill

Elizabeth was born in Gosport in 1905 and moved to Portsmouth in 1913. On leaving school she trained with a dressmaker and was fond of telling the story of how she once went into Kingston Prison - 'to deliver new uniforms for the wardresses!'

She married George Atrill and they had five daughters and an adopted son and during the Second World War, they all moved up to Waterlooville.

She was an active Christian and a regular communicant at St George's and supported her husband when he was organist in the old church. George Atrill died 35 years ago. Mrs Atrill was a long standing member of the Mothers' Union and was often involved with fêtes, bazaars, nativity and passion plays. She arranged flowers in both the old and new churches for many years and during the rebuilding helped form the Wednesday coffee morning, meeting in various homes in the parish and raising funds for different charities.

Recently lack of hearing made her feel very isolated and she withdrew from company. She lived independently until the last 15 months when she moved into a nursing home.

We send our sympathy and prayers to Ruth Loveman and her family in their loss. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
