CHRIST OUR FUTURE MILLENNIUM CELEBRATION AT PENTECOST 2000

Have you noticed the poster at the back of the Church? Yes, it has been there for some while - but what is it all about?

It is a huge celebration that will take place on Saturday, June l0th, 2000 (the Eve of Pentecost) at 12 noon. The doors will open at 11 am.

Where is it going to take place? At the London Arena, opened in 1989, Docklands, not far from the Millennium Dome.

What is going to happen? The Archbishop of York will be presiding at a Solemn Eucharist along with 50 other Bishops from around the world and 1000 priests. We will be giving thanks for the faithfulness of Christian people through two thousand years and committing ourselves to the service of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Universal King.

Who is it being organised by? Jointly between Forward In Faith and The Confraternity 0f The Blessed Sacrament. You do not have to be a member of either to join in.

Are tickets on sale? Yes. £l0 or £5 for senior citizens or children under the age of 16 on l0th June.

I would like to be involved. What should I do? Please let me have your £l0 before the end of August, 1999. I will issue a receipt. I am collecting names and money as from now. We will need to book promptly in September in order to be able to obtain a block booking of seats.

I cannot face driving up to London. Will transport be arranged? A coach will be booked to take us up to London. There will be an additional cost for this but it will be kept to a minimum.

Is there a Prayer I should use to help me prepare for this great event? Yes, there is:

'Father all-powerful, creator of all things, judge of the living and the dead, you have raised our Lord Jesus Christ from death to life, resplendent in glory as the King of all the ages. Open our hearts to Christ who is our Future: free the whole world to rejoice in his peace, to glory in his justice, and to be made new in the power of his love, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.'
