RAMBLING NEWS

September Ramble

This was a re-run of the muddy walk through Winchester Water Meadows we did earlier in the year. Even this time we had to cancel the first date due to wet weather.

Six of us met at the St Catherine's Hill Car Park, Candy and family plus Ruby and myself. The low turn out was mostly due to people being on holiday and the short notice of the second date.

I am pleased to say it was dry underfoot this time and the weather nice, the walk itself was only four miles following the river Test and Navigation Canal. As the Navigation Canal had been out of use for so long it was very silted up.

We had lunch in a very nice little park almost in Winchester where we could sit and watch the ducks and fast clear water. The walk was enjoyed by us all, it's a pity there were not more of us to share the enjoyment.

At the time of writing, the next ramble is to be that for October, round the Chidham Peninsular, weather permitting.
