FINANCIAL UPDATE

The retiring collection for St Mary Axim was brought forward to June and raised £218.05. With funds in hand and a donation of £50 from the Wednesday coffee morning monies a total of £363 is on its way to help with their rebuilding programme. The Missions to Seaman (or Seafarers as they are now known) retiring collection during July raised £159.85. Interest and dividends on our investments received at the end of May, June and July totalled £1031 a very welcome addition to general church funds.

Profit from Suttons Seeds was £37.77 and David Palmer's plant sales £38.70. The concert given by Sue Towner's pupils on June 24th raised £103.38. Our efforts to economise on the use of electricity seem to be paying off. Our monthly direct debit instalment has been further reduced from £51 to £32 and a refund of £200 obtained. Last quarter's gas bill was £100.94. Recent votive candle sales reached £97. Regular organ tune cost £90.48, photocopier paper £116.91, wine £150.73 and our annual Performing Rights Society licence £188.59.

In future it is intended that the Eucharistic Gift donations originally given to cover the cost of wine, wafers and candles should also be used for other service expenses directly relating to worship to avoid a build up of unusable money in a restricted fund. At a finance sub committee meeting held on July 24th it was agreed that some special gift aid envelopes should be purchased so that any ad hoc donations given to the church by tax payers, whether regular contributors or visitors, would also be eligible for the recovery of tax.
