YOUTH CLUB

Youth Club - Summer 2000

St George's Youth Club had another full term with wide ranging activities. Our members are now drawn from much nearer home and in the main stem from Church families, which is nice (and easier to organise!!)

Mixed in between several games evenings in the hall, we had an evening showing our canal holiday video and photos after which we made a collage to show them off on our Hall noticeboard. We had a French evening with French food and games, and got one or two surprised looks from passers by as we played petanque in the Church grounds!!

We had an excellent visit to Waterlooville Police Station and had a great guest evening at Glendene with Bar B Cue, games and swimming.

We were blessed with good weather for our weekend camp, during which we were lucky enough to go to Wintershall for the Passion play "The Life of Christ". More of that elsewhere, but suffice it to say that it was a very moving experience for both Youth and adults. The acting and sound systems were superb and the audience participation and realistic scenes set in outside fields made it a real "event" for us all.

Our beach party was a great success; most swam and warmed up with fish and chips and games afterwards.

Our Orienteering in QE Forest was not the success we could have hoped as the Bar B Cue charcoal was wet and we had to repair back to Glendene to get our promised burgers and sausages!!

We finished the term with an end of term party with (again) swimming and silly games.

We look forward to another active Winter term with hopefully a few more members especially boys who seem to be in short supply at present.
