VISIT TO WINTERSHALL

The play that we went to see at Wintershall was called "The Life of Christ." It was a special performance which was used to celebrate the Jubilee 2000. It was performed in the year 1999 and also the year 2000. It is said that the performance won't be used for 10 years or more, if at all. Six members of the Youth Club went as well as four members from the Junior Youth Club and four adults.

Everyone agreed that Jesus (who was played by Simon Hemingway) acted the part really well, especially as he came up into the crowd and talked to us as if we were his followers. Also when he told a story, he asked all of the children to come down and sit around him. When they acted the feeding of the 5,000, they included us in it by throwing bread to us; it was really good.

The play was acted in five different places, the first place was on a shallow slope where the nativity was performed. Then we had to move to a steep slope where Jesus told all his stories and showed his teachings to us. Then we moved to a flat grassy area while the narrator told another part of the story and Jesus got captured. Then we had to go back to the steep slope where Pontius Pilate tried Jesus and the crowd wanted him Crucified. Then we moved back to the Shallow Slope where we watched Jesus get crucified along with two other men. After that we went back to the flat grassy area and we watched Jesus appear to his Disciples. Then we went and sat on straw bales next to a lake where Jesus was with his disciples for the last time.

Everyone that went to the "Life of Christ" thoroughly enjoyed it and if it is performed again we would recommend it to anyone.
