CHRISTIAN AID

Thanks from Christian Aid...

The final total for Christian Aid Week 2000 stands at over £12 million - a new record. This was greatly helped by the income from tax relief on cash and other donations, so many thanks to all taxpayers who took time to fill in the form, as well as to everyone who gave their time and money to help make this year's Christian Aid Week such a success.

Thank you to all St George's collectors who helped to make this total possible. Many people were concerned about the implications of Gordon Brown's tax relief bounty; afraid that the implementation would be cumbersome and time consuming. This proved less onerous than expected and, as you see from Christian Aid's official statement, very lucrative.

This year St George's congregation has sent over £1,100 to Christian Aid - not forgetting the food and blankets sent to Central America during 1999.

When one remembers that Christian Aid is one of twelve charities supported by our congregation, one must say a very big thank you to everybody.
