FINANCIAL UPDATE

Just a short resumé from me this month as I am up to my ears in figures and paperwork as I grapple with the church accounts for 2001!

Palm crosses have again been purchased at a cost of £20 through the Emmanuel Church in Northampton's close link with the Zululand Swaziland Association. Apparently growth in the scale of operation in the Palm Cross Industry in the Nongoma District has led to moves to seek charitable status and the conditions under which the workers operate and are paid have been reviewed.

It has cost £218.55 to repair damage to church windows on the north side. A supply of wine and candles cost £256.30 and these items continue to be funded from the Eucharistic Gift donations at £12.50 per dedication. The fault with the church heating cost £61 to rectify and half yearly water rates are £26.80 for the church and £33.65 for the Vicarage.

The retiring collection during January raised £121.13 (including some gift aided contributions) for St Luke's Hospital for the Clergy. Webb Ivory sales profit for Christmas 2001 was £70.18. We can no longer redeem EEC foreign coin after the end of February 2002 so I will state the final sum raised next month.

Our tax refund for the last quarter of 2001 exceeded £2,000 for the first time ever £2166.04 to be exact, and this will enable me to pay the February quota payment of £3,500.
