PCC MATTERS

At the PCC meeting on Thursday 21st March the Treasurer presented the Financial Report for 2001 which had been formally examined by Mr George Coleman, Independent Examiner. The Treasurer explained the changes in the layout and content of the Report, necessitated by the revised Charities Act and the PCC 1993. Father Malcolm thanked the Treasurer and congratulated her on a magnificent job against the clock. These sentiments were warmly endorsed by the PCC and gratitude to Mr Coleman was equally warmly expressed. The motions to accept both the Annual Report and the Financial Statement were formally carried.

A discussion on Clergy Pay and Pensions was deferred to the next meeting, as was a discussion on Child Protection. A consultation document dealing with the former and a booklet on the latter are being circulated to the PCC in advance of the meeting. At a meeting attended by the Treasurer and the Secretary in January the importance of a complete Risk Assessment/Management policy had been stressed and it was agreed that this would be discussed at the earliest opportunity.

Mrs Rosa Miller outlined the plans for a Golden Jubilee Family Fun Day on Saturday 22nd June. The Mayor and Mayoress of Havant will attend and local schools have been invited to participate. Funding has been sought from local businesses with, so far, a disappointing response. The PCC therefore approved the motion to apply for a Lottery grant.

Jaye Warren, PCC Secretary
