As the magazine deadline approaches ticket sales for the Grand Draw have reached £1,350 just prior to the big day so unless there is a last minute surge in sales profit seems likely to fall short of our usual Fête income. The retiring collection during May for Christian Aid reached £269.25, the hunger lunch raised £60, the collection in Waterlooville Precinct £74.75 and the house to house collection an additional £143.36. The June retiring collection for St Mary Axim, Ghana, our link parish, totalled £135.60. Income continues to come regularly from fees, magazine sales and advertising, Eucharistic gift donations, other donations (£100 recently), votive candle sales £78 and interest £125. Photocopier paper cost £122.78 and mower repairs £125. Because many of you have arranged to contribute your planned giving by bankers standing order the number of green planned giving envelopes required from August could be cut back to a cost of £108.23 this year. Father Arthur Green was recently presented with a cheque for £147 in appreciation of all he has done for us at St George's. He will be much missed but I know we all send him our very best wishes for the future in Southsea and look forward to seeing him back in Waterlooville from time to time. Final figures for the Sponsored Walk will appear in the September St George's News. Enjoy your Summer holidays. LINDA WAINWRIGHT STOP PRESS! Thanks to a last minute surge in sales of tickets for the Grand Draw, total tickets sold in the end came in at 1984, producing a net profit after prizes and expenses of £1,451, not too far short of the income usually achieved from the Summer Fête. |
