TAIZE AT ST GEORGE'S

17th October 2002

Were you there? If you were, like approximately 75 others, I do so hope you felt the magic of this service.

This year, we decided to ask our choir and organist, if they would participate and what a difference this made. Those of us with, shall we say, less than perfect singing ability, were encouraged to sing forth in the knowledge that the organ and the choir's excellent effort would more than compensate!

We had been very concerned that because Father Malcolm had been so unwell, he would be unable to lead the service. Happily, he was feeling better and not only lead the service but "decorated" the church with candles so effectively to add to the magical atmosphere, together with ensuring that the bells rang out to welcome people to the service.

We planned the service to try and improve on our first attempt last year and a number of people took on a considerable amount of work in practising the chants etc., beforehand, participating in the service, and helping with the refreshments at the end. By the many comments made at the end of the service, their efforts were greatly appreciated. Visitors remarked too, on how lucky St George's is to have young people contributing so ably.

If you came and enjoyed this service with its opportunity for peaceful reflective moments, do please let Fr Malcolm know.

If you could not make it this year, never mind, we might just be lucky enough to have another next year!
