PCC MATTERS

When the PCC met on 6th March 2003, one of the main items on the agenda was the approval of the annual accounts, once again meticulously prepared by our Treasurer. She was warmly congratulated on the clear presentation of the figures - borne out by there being no questions!

Ten new applications to join the electoral roll were approved.

Child Protection. A very helpful meeting had been held in January, at which the Revd Karina Green, the Bishop's representative on Child Protection, explained the role of the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). The Church is the only statutory body yet to come into line with other bodies working with children, but come into line it must. This will involve police checks being carried out on all new appointees working with young people as well as retrospective checks on existing youth workers. Miss Lynn Winter put forward three motions: to adopt the diocesan Policy Statement; to agree to obtain disclosures from the CRB; and to authorise Mrs Sandra Hewett, St George's Child Protection Representative, to check the documentation. All three motions were carried.

The full minutes are displayed at the back of the church. The Annual Parochial Church Meeting will be held on Sunday 6th April at 11.15.am in the Church Hall.
