The Colour of Life

Life's Tapestry is woven in glowing threads,
Soft blue of Mother's Love at life's entrance.
Grey shades of sorrow,
Red for sudden pains.
Browns and greens for friendly days.
Black and Grey for lonely days
Shot through with golden threads of God's love.

Red for pain, Mauve for sorrow,
Yellow for anticipation of a better tomorrow.
For many days the pattern flows muted
Then bright colours flow out spelling the joy of Love.
The tapestry grows as life extends
Bright clear for days of childhood.
Muted the mixed days of youth.
Sure true colours of first love,
Steady and sturdy are the threads of life
Always the bright clear gold of God's Love.

Now the pattern grows as life progresses
Colours tangle, threads snap. New beginnings, abrupt endings.
All woven with a steady hand, much sorrow, much pain.
The middle years draw to an end.
Still God's love glows unending.

Serene in old age, the pattern nearly finished,
If it could be viewed would it be a masterpiece?
Unique, glowing, light and dark
The shades of our lives, our true threads.
Only God is constant, sure.
The colour of Divinity, unknown to mortals yet.
