St George's Market

Anyone opening the door of the Church Hall after 7.30.am on a Thursday morning will find a group of people setting up the display areas for the St George's Market.

We have been operating since 9th January 2003 and have enjoyed serving, and talking to, our customers. Some we have known for years; they are no longer customers, but friends.

Having received a friendly welcome from our doormen the customers go to the card and colourful craft tables. The cards vary from beautifully embroidered, or cross stitched cards, pressed flower arrangements on cards, to computer generated cards. Many of our customers buy their family cards and are building up a card collection.

Aprons, cardigans, tea cosies, peg bags, woodwork and ceramics are among the variety of items displayed on the craft tables. We also have home produced jewellery, some of the beaded necklaces have easy neck fastening for those of us who can no longer open the fragile fastening.

No home produced market is without a cake and preserves stall. One of our producers takes orders for homemade, decorated celebration cakes. The jams, marmalade and pickles are very popular and our honey producer is kept busy.

Producers also bring in plants, vegetables, flowers and eggs, ensuring that we have a wide range of goods for sale.

We have it on good authority that we have the best and cheapest coffee and tea in Waterlooville. We like to see people sitting at the tables having a cup of coffee and meeting their friends.

So, come in next Thursday and see for yourselves.
