PCC Matters

The PCC meeting scheduled for 24th June was postponed, partly because several members had tendered apologies but mainly to allow those remaining to stay at home and cheer on England in Euro 2004! Much good it did the team...

We therefore met on 30th June when the arrangements for Fr Mike's Collation and Induction and his first Sunday featured prominently. Let us hope that, by the time this appears, we shall all (Fr Mike and Mrs Sheffield included) be looking back on a highly successful and enjoyable weekend and looking forward to a new chapter in the life of St George's.

It was agreed that, in future, outgoing Churchwardens will, if they wish, be co-opted on to the PCC, with voting rights, for a further year. This will give them the opportunity to see through projects they may have started and will give the PCC the benefit of their four years' experience.

The churchyard paving is being seriously considered by the PCC and, since replacement paving will be extremely expensive, alternative solutions and costings will be discussed at the next meeting.

The Sacristy has been given a makeover - thanks were expressed to all who helped in that.

The next meeting (and the first with Fr Mike in the chair) will be held on Monday 27th September 2004.

Copies of the full minutes are displayed at the back of church.

Jaye Warren,
PCC Secretary
