Book Corner

I have found a wonderful book for young children this month. Published by Lion, You are very special is written by Su Box and illustrated by Susie Poole.

It starts with space for the child's name and encourages them to think first of someone who is special to them, then reminds them that they are special too.

I liked the page, which reads

'The world is full of people -
big and small, black and white.
But God made you just as you are,
And he made you just right.'

Through bright, appealing pictures and clever text with an almost poetic feel to it, children are helped to learn to value themselves and others.

There is also a simple but extremely effective surprise at the end of the book.
