PCC Matters

The PCC met on 17th November and 13th December and the churchyard paving featured prominently at both meetings. Tenders are being sought, as are grants, and the final decisions should be made at the next PCC meeting.

The PCC accepted the Proposed Budget for 2005, which, in order to show outgoings not in excess of income for the first time in 10 years, depends upon a £5000 increase in planned giving. A presentation will be made to the congregation on Sunday 6th February giving the facts about St George's financial situation.

Miss Linda Wainwright will stand down as Treasurer at the APCM and Mrs Carol McKells was welcomed as her successor. Carol will act as Assistant Treasurer from January 2005 until she assumes full responsibility.

A new, corporate logo, for use on St George's stationery, publications, notice boards etc, is being considered by the PCC. The PCC accepted Fr Mike's suggestion that the Order of Service booklets, now getting very tatty, be replaced by different coloured seasonal orders of service. These will be introduced for Lent 2005. The PCC agreed also to the installation of improved altar lighting.

The meeting on Tuesday 18th January will be reported upon next time. The next meeting is Wednesday 23rd February. Copies of the full minutes are at the back of church.

Jaye Warren,
PCC Hon Secretary
