Dolls and Disasters was the title of a talk given by Denise Fox, a lady who has tried many hobbies from Pottery (first disaster), painting by numbers, weaving and several others that all ended the same way, being discarded and filling her dining room to capacity. Finally Denise decided that as she still had the kiln from her pottery days, perhaps she could try making porcelain dolls heads. After trials and errors she produced her first perfect head. Going from strength to strength she now produces exquisite soft bodied dolls with porcelain heads, arms and legs. She also hand makes all the clothes, shoes and even buttons! Wigs are about the only thing that have to be bought. It was an evening of laughter as Denise has the ability to inject fun into her talks.

The Phoenix Singers came to our last meeting of the year, where they sang Night of Miracles, Christmas Carols and a selection of festive songs.

A Happy Christmas and Blessed New Year from St George's Ladies Group.
