PCC Matters

The PCC met on Wednesday 19th July. A financial report had already been circulated before the meeting and this was discussed. It was reported that discussion had taken place at a Deanery finance meeting about next year's quota which will go up abnormally because of Clergy pensions. A vote had taken place for either a 6.9% hit in 2007 reducing by 2017 to 3% or a lower hit next year and gradual reduction to 4.5% by 2017. The latter was voted for. This will mean an increase in quota of about 5.8%, or more when adjusted by the Deanery.

Fr Mike advised that the 4 services at 10 am in August will be geared towards children and families.

There were reports from the various committees that had met since the last PCC. Sandra Hewett, the Youth Coordinator, said that she had spoken to the Youth Club about her role recently and intends to visit the other youth groups in the church to advise them of her role. There was a report from the latest Kairos meeting which took place at All Saints, Denmead. There were updates from the 4 groups in our cluster and discussion on adding a fifth group now that Denmead have joined our cluster. Denmead would like to head up a group on parents but would need one representative from each church to do some research in their own church and meet to generate a plan. St George's needs a representative so if you are interested please talk to Margaret Symonds.

The full minutes of the PCC meeting are on the noticeboard at the back of the Church.

Jane Cook,
PCC Secretary
