Fabric Report

Like many of us, our church building is getting older. There are several things that need to be done but as explained elsewhere money is in short supply at present.

We must mend the front doors. This is a Health and Safety issue as we have had two people hurt by the slamming doors.

We should repair the broken glass in our windows. Broken windows give a poor image to the public and the water pours in to the flower lobby through the broken glass.

The interior of the church needs painting and the double-glazed windows should be taken out for a good clean. This is a major job involving scaffolding and was last done some 25 years ago.

There are several cracks appearing in the walls and we need to take advice on these.

Our floor is cracking and again we need to take advice and be prepared for the consequences.

The fabric committee is aware of these items but with a small operating budget not a lot can be done.

Our church grounds look smart in the summer and this is due to some really hard work by just a few people. Our grounds morning in the autumn was very successful and thanks to all those who took part. However we need ongoing commitment to keep the flowerbeds and paths neat and trim. Can you do anything to help? An hour a week would work wonders.

Overall the upkeep of the church takes time and money. Please bear with us while we try to organise both.
