A Hard Act to Follow

Kunle Onabolu, Founder of ACT

Kunle Onabolu, the founder of African Child Trust and Chris Parker, the current Chairman, came to visit on Sunday 19th November. Currently some 48 members of St George’s Church and others support three African children through their schooling years. This support is provided by way of an annual donation of £12 per person and covers items such as school fees, clothing and shoes, books and stationery, and fares to and from school.

Kunle spoke in church and again in the hall afterwards and met many supporters during a buffet lunch. He told us of our particular sponsored children, Christopher, Evelyn and Laurentine and how our sponsorship had provided life changing support, not just to them but also to their families.

The Wednesday coffee morning fund donated a cheque for £50 and several other individual and private donations were made.

St George’s now enters its fifth year of sponsorship with a target to bring more into the scheme so that a fourth child can be sponsored. We can say that, at the time of print, this target is well within reach.

Thank you to all those who came and supported the occasion with their presence, and their donations both of food and money.
