Remembering Nancy

I am sure that, like me, other Walsingham Pilgrims will miss Nancy this year. After the sad loss of Graham, Nancy came to look forward to Walsingham each year.

It coincided with Nancy’s birthday one year, and she provided the wine and some nibbles to be enjoyed on the Saturday evening in Vi and Den’s “suite”. A cake and more nibbles were transported also with us to Walsingham. Rod recited a monologue during the evening’s festivities, and a good time was enjoyed by all until, all too soon, it was time to be back “home” or be locked out!

I might add that there was still some refreshment left over to share on our way back to Waterlooville, which Nancy enjoyed dispensing. Bless her.

Nancy used to enjoy visiting the Catholic Shrine, too, preferring to walk there, weather permitting, where she always bought a card for her Doctor, and lit several candles. One year Nancy and I walked along the old Railway line, and she always hoped to do that again.

Nancy also enjoyed the Classical Spectacular Festival of Music at the Albert Hall on several occasions where she waved her flag vigorously!! In November 2005 we managed a quick visit to Harrods in order to buy a bag containing some rather pricey sweets. That was after we had enjoyed our pasta, and a delicious glass of wine.

Before Nancy’s illness we used to walk (briskly) up to Church together, and Nancy was still hoping to do that again. Nancy’s family was very important to her, especially visits from her much loved Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Nancy is at peace now, free from pain, and reunited with Graham. She has missed him so much, I know. I shall light a candle for Nancy at both Shrines this year.
