PCC Matters

The PCC meeting took place on 23rd January following the Eucharist.  The Treasurer was unable to be at the meeting but had written a report which Colin went through. Outgoing funds exceed incoming by £2200, the main areas of concern being Administration, Upkeep of Services and Gift Days. It was suggested that we look at the accounts again in detail in September.  It was reiterated that any planned spending should be cleared with Carol first.

Gordon Uphill is retiring at the end of March and the PCC agreed to send a donation to his leaving gift as he has been a great help to Carol since taking over the role of Treasurer and also to St George's over the years.

Two items were discussed under the Ecology Audit which had been undertaken.

The first item was to support Community Schemes - St George's need to support anything going on in the area, ie green box, taking rubbish to the tip etc and make sure it is all dealt with correctly.

The second item was to publish Green Tips in the Magazine. Margaret Symonds volunteered to write something for this magazine and it would be very good if different people could write something for future magazines.

Keydell had very kindly donated a large amount of bulbs to St George's which have now been planted and a letter of thanks sent to them. A letter had been received from the Rural Dean regarding support for projects in Koforidua Diocese in Ghana and Fr Mike has now written about this in the Bulletin.

St George's has been invited to host a Confirmation for Portsdown Archdeaconry on 22nd April by the Bishop of Basingstoke and has agreed. This means that the APCM and lunch will now take place the following week on 29th April.

Fr Mike asked for the PCC's approval for him to go on sabbatical this year which they were happy to support.  This means that he will be absent from the Parish for around 11 weeks (10 Sundays) from end September to mid December. Half his time will be spent studying and half in New Zealand.  During his absence Fr Ray has agreed to take over.

There were reports from the Hall and Pastoral Committees and the Youth Coordinator/Child Protection Officer. If you would like to read a full copy of the minutes they are on the board at the back of Church.
