Swimming trip to Maurepas, France

Amny and friends

As the town of Waterlooville is twinned with Maurepas, my swimming club each year visits the local club CNSQY in Maurepas and in return they come over to us each year.  This is the first year that I have been and we have been planning the trip for about six  months.

My family decided to drive to Maurepas from the Channel Tunnel.  This journey took about 12 hours including a very long and boring car drive with Mum and Dad disagreeing over which direction to take.

Our hotel was a short drive from the Pool and it was fun to spend the evenings with my friends.
The French team were very friendly and did a barbeque for our first evening.  They have a normal inside pool and their outside pool is a large 50m pool.  The first day of swimming was lovely and warm and the outdoor pool was warm enough to swim in.   I had to swim in 5 events and a team relay.  (That’s us in the picture).

The second day was absolutely freezing.  It rained all day but we still had to swim outside!!  Plenty of hot chocolate and  chocolate waffles to keep us warm.  I also managed to exchange hats with one of the French team and we were all very pleased with our new hats!

Overall I thought the trip was worth it, as I missed some of  my School exams!! I would definitely go back again next year but hope we get better weather.
