On 23rd October Mr Richard Solly came to give us a talk on the Citizens Advice Bureau.

We started off with a short film about a girl who was pregnant and had to leave her job. She didn’t know how she was going to manage financially. She saw an advertisement for the C.A.B. and decided to give them a call. She was given a appointment to meet an Adviser and in the end she had her problems shorted out regarding bills and took her Boss to court and won the case.

There are C.A.B. offices in the areas of Waterlooville, Havant and Leigh Park. You can telephone these offices or go on-line. C.A.B. is funded by the local authority.

There are 3,000 C.A.B. Offices throughout the country and they see six million people per year.
When it first started people used to wait up to 1½ hours to see someone, but now someone will come and discuss your problem with you much quicker. 37% of people are much better off going to seek help from the C.A.B. And 64% have their problems resolved. For 46% their health problems are much fewer after seeking advice.

The problems people bring to the C.A.B. include benefits, debt, employment, housing, legal, relationships, consumers, tax.

The telephone number for Waterlooville C.A.B. Is 02392 717699.
