From the Parish Priest

Lent is an important season in the Church’s year, being kept since the very earliest times both as a preparation for Easter and as an opportunity to learn more about Christ and his Church. This year the teaching takes place during the Parish Eucharist on Ash Wednesday evening and on Sunday mornings. The sermons explain the history of Lent and Holy Week: what caused the first Christians to regard the days as “holy” and how we can keep those same days holy and special in the 21st century. On Holy Monday there is an opportunity to ask questions of the different preachers and to discuss their responses.

As last year, the service Stations of the Cross is held on different days and at different times each week. This enables as many people as possible to add a further service to their weekly programme. Stations of the Cross concludes with a shortened Eucharist.
