The Mission to Seafarers

A member of the congregation has asked me whether I could knit any balaclavas, fingerless mittens or hats which are continually needed by this worthwhile charity. If any members of St George's would like to knit any of these items I have copies of the patterns available. If however you have any double knitting wool that I could use I would be most grateful. (Dark colours would probably be most suitable for these items).

I continue to receive donations of wool from the kind folk at St George's and you might like to know that many blankets, children's jumpers and layette sets have been given to the charities Feed the Children and The Red Cross for distribution overseas; to those most in need. Also of course your wool continues to raise funds for our own Church through sales of knitted items both at the summer fayre and the Bazaar.

So as I said any wool you no longer have a use for would be most appreciated. Any ply, any colour not forgetting of course the 'Pompey' blue!

Many thanks

Sue Andrews
