Waterlooville Music Festival 2009

The Box Office is open at Amberley Jewellers in Waterlooville Town Centre. At the time of writing, some tickets are on limited availability and close to sell-out, so this is the time to take a good look at the Festival programme and decide what you would like to see.

On the first Saturday the festival is opened by local MP David Willetts, with Market Place Music bringing hundreds of musicians performing throughout the town centre, including in the church grounds where the Summer Fête will be taking place. That afternoon at St George’s Church two local groups are featured in Bands on the Lawn, and the day concludes with a Folk and Ale Evening with the talented west country trio Issy and David Emeney and Kate Riaz and their amazing dance band Rapscallion.

At the end of the festival week on Saturday 20th, we have Jazz Saturday with South East Hants Jazz Project and South Downs College Jazz Quartet, an outside event with lunchtime and afternoon barbecue. The festival concludes on Saturday 20th with the now traditional Last Night of the Proms - all the atmosphere of the real thing - if you have not been before and want to see what a great fun evening this is, then view the video clip on the festival website at www.stgeorgesnews.org/wmf

The two Saturday evenings are not to be missed of course, but there are great evenings to be enjoyed throughout the week; an interesting and instructive day taking part with the Scratch Choir on Sunday under the direction of Rod Starr - or just enjoy being in the audience listening to the great operatic choruses. On Monday local Violinist and BBC prizewinner Guy Button shares the evening with Africapella the vibrant African music group that was such a sensational hit last year. If you are a brass band lover then Tuesday brings the renowned Hampshire Police Band. For this concert we welcome The Mayor of Havant, Councillor Jackie Branson as our guest. Wednesday we have the Cantate Teenage Choir joining us from Portsmouth Cathedral. And a real treat on Thursday with the Venetia Wind Quintet and a host of other instrumentalists as their guests, all lined up to create a magical evening. Gilbert and Sullivan fans are catered for on Friday when we look forward to being entertained by Havant Light Opera. Can’t decide? Why not buy a Passport ticket for just £25 which covers everything except the Last Night (Saturday 20th). As well as all this going on, don’t forget there are numerous concerts every lunchtime and afternoon. So get your tickets now, On-Line with a few clicks at our website box office where all major credit cards are accepted, or use Paypal. Go to www.stgeorgesnews.org/wmfboxoffice
