HULBERT JUNIOR SCHOOL - Voice Mania and Junk Band

Voice Mania was formed in September 2008. There are 37 members of the choir from years 4 to 6, girls and boys. The choir has had very little experience as it is new but really loves performing. Its first performance was in the Waterlooville Schools Christmas Concert. It was well received and the choir is really excited to be performing at the Waterlooville Music Festival this summer. They sing songs from all over the world in unison, two and three part harmony. Extended services have enabled the choir to purchase some special t-shirts to wear when performing! The main objective of Voice Mania is to enjoy singing together and producing a wonderful sound!

Junk Band was formed in September 2008. It has 14 members from years 5 and 6, girls and boys. It hasn't had the opportunity to perform to the public yet and the band is really excited about this opportunity. The band uses different pieces of "Junk" to produce rhythmic pieces of music. It has three specific pieces, one using plastic chairs, one using just plastic bins and one using a mixture of junk including two Sainsbury's shopping trolleys! You won't be able to sit still!

AFRICAPPELLA
Part of the African Women's Forum, the group was formed to feature in the 2007 Bicentenary play "Brighter than the Moon" at the New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth, commemorating the abolition of the trans-atlantic slave trade by the Slave Bill of 1807. The group sings African Caribbean village and work songs and Negro Spirituals. Their exciting performance was one of the highlights of last year's festival and by popular demand they are invited back this year. We look forward to a vibrant and fun evening with Africappella.
