Highbury Area Band
Founded in 1976 the Highbury Area Band has grown to one of the most highly accomplished symphonic Youth Wind Bands in Hampshire and with its considerable talent and extensive repertoire has established an excellent reputation under the direction of its Musical Director Steve Tanner. The band regularly provides all the music for the Mayor Making Ceremonies for incoming Lord Mayors of Portsmouth, and has performed at many other important venues both locally and across Europe. There are currently around 60 playing members mostly aged between 11 and 21 although there are some older members who have enjoyed their playing so much that they have stayed on well into their twenties.
We are delighted to welcome the Highbury Area Band for their first appearance at the Waterlooville Music Festival, where they will be under the guest direction of our regular "Last Night of the Proms" Conductor Don Lloyd.
