FINANCIAL UPDATE

The Parish Sponsored Ramble on June 18th raised £468.35 by direct sponsorship, a net profit of £77.88 from the barbecue and utilising the Gift Aid scheme at least another £78 by way of reclaiming tax. There are still a few information queries to sort out before a claim can be submitted but the whole event will have raised in excess of £625. Thanks are due to David Palmer, Rosemary Monk and everyone who helped to organise the event and not forgetting the walkers and their generous sponsors. And how nice it was to see so many people joining in Evensong in a beautiful setting on a lovely summer's evening.

Provisional figures for our 2001 Quota payment have recently been received - a rise to £38,890 - a 6.09% or £2233 increase. This amongst other topics is to be discussed at the treasurers' meeting on September 4th which the churchwardens are to attend in my absence. The finance sub-committee met with the Parish Resources Adviser Gordon Uphill on August 21st and on 5th November he will be talking to the congregation about Christian Stewardship. To ease our cashflow situation John Millard is now applying for our tax rebate quarterly, and the amount received for April to June 2000 is £1041.90. If you contribute under the planned giving scheme and pay tax but did not sign a covenant please see John for a Gift Aid declaration form so that we can claim an extra 28p for every £1 you contribute as well. Envelopes for ad hoc donations under the gift aid scheme will soon be available.

A £50 donation from the Wednesday coffee morning charity monies raised the sum sent to the Seafarers Mission to £210.85 and the August retiring collection for the Rowans Hospice amounted to £188.92. The bookstall porch safe yielded £125.58 for general church funds.
