The Parish Church of St George the Martyr, Waterlooville

The Waterlooville Probus Club is a meeting place for retired people who have worked in managerial type jobs. The club meets on the second Tuesday of each month at The Mead End in Denmead where members can enjoy a drink before taking lunch. After lunch there is a talk or entertainment. Speakers cover a variety of topics from 1940’s songs to aviation, cycling and personal life experiences. The club goes on one or two trips a year. The current cost of each 3 course meal is £13.

The speaker at our June meeting was Mr Osborne on the subject of  ‘People in aviation’. There were local connections for some of the men mentioned during the talk, many of whom had significant roles.

Members recently enjoyed a lovely day out on a trip along The Solent and up the Beaulieu River to Bucklers Hard, returning by way of the North shore of the Isle of Wight and a close inspection of Spit Sand fort. Finally the route included a detailed tour of the dockyard with an informative commentary on the warships present at the time.

There is no meeting in August and details of the September meeting can be found on the club's web site:
