The Parish Church of St George the Martyr, Waterlooville

Help in Bereavement is a registered charity and has been ‘running’ since 1979. The organisation offers a visiting service to people suffering the grief, loneliness and isolation caused when a loved one dies. If anyone would like support or more information then please phone our co-ordinator on 07432 602613.

In February this year we started a Help in Bereavement social club here at St George’s Church hall, the second Monday of every month. We have a coffee morning, for anyone who would like to come along that may be bereaved however recent or long ago, to meet others in similar situations which is very supportive. We have organised many trips and outings in between the monthly coffee morning, such as a trip to the Buddhist monastery at Chithurst, a visit to Stansted House and tea in the Pavilion, we have had many lunches out at garden centres, the  Churchillian pub, in the last few weeks we have had afternoon tea with a singalong at The Wellington in Old Portsmouth, we have been invited to a candle party, a chocolate party, a spiritual craft party, we attended an Autumn concert tea party at Cosham Community centre put on by Carers UK which was magnificent, and we have lots of events and outings coming up over the Christmas period.

We are having our own Help in Bereavement Christmas Special coffee morning on Monday 9th December. We have invited Mayors from different areas and two Lord Mayors are able to come. We will also be doing a special presentation to one of our founder members who has received an MBE. We have also a group of children coming from St Peters Primary School singing two or three carols for us. The News have also been invited. It costs £2 to cover costs etc and there will be a buffet and a raffle. Please come and support this event, there will be information available on Help in Bereavement and volunteers from HiB will be on hand if you would like information on the day.
