The Parish Church of St George the Martyr, Waterlooville

Here is a message that we have received from a reader of our On-Line edition:

I have just come across, in an ‘ancient’ OXO tin, some undated notes written by my late mother, Elizabeth Fallick. I am now a retired lady living in Surrey but vividly recall attending St. George’s as a child with my much-loved mother in the 1940’s/50’s. The four (shorthand notebook size) pages of notes are highly praising the then vicar, “Reverend Wickham”, written with great sadness by my mother on the day of his departure from the church, presumably to retire as my mother described him as “not a young man”. I wish I could remember more about him and it gives me joy to share the discovery of the notes with you at St. George’s.

Does anyone know anything about the Reverend Wickham, or indeed remember Elizabeth Fallick and her family? It’s a long time ago now, so the chances are pretty slim, but if there are any memories of this, please let us know.
