The Parish Church of St George the Martyr, Waterlooville

homepage

Jean was born in London. Her parents belonged to the local Baptist Church, and later joined an Evangelical Fellowship.

Jean trained to teach at Tottenham Teacher Training College and went on to schools in West Malling, Northampton and later in Devon.

She taught reading, poetry and literacy and inspired so many children; teachers, especially in junior schools, are in a unique position to touch lives of young children and to shape their futures, they may not recognise it at the time, but hundreds, thousands owe gratitude to Jean. What a gift she had!

Jean was caring, kind and tolerant.

She and Tony were married for 58 years and Jean was very proud of her three sons and their families.

Tony and Jean met through a Baptist Church and although Jean herself was founder member of  the Evangelical Church she was also happy worshipping in the Church of England.

Jean was a talented embroiderer.

She had a strong faith. Our prayers are with Tony and her family.
