Wednesday 24th October at 10.am

This is the day when we sell the cakes we have baked, there is also a Bring and Buy stall with jams and marmalade all to raise funds for the overseas work of the Mothers’ Union. The money from the sale will go towards Travel Grants for Mothers’ Union Community Development Coordinators, like Zendah in Uganda who travels great disstances to access isolated families and communities to offer training and advice on income-generating projects and basic health and nutrition programmes.

When refugees from the Congo flooded into Uganda a few years ago Zendah mobilised the Mothers’ Union members to respond. Clothes and food were collected with the Mothers’ Union members sharing the little they had with displaced families.

Zendah finds out what needs the communities have and works out how to respond, she has held training on agriculture, nutrition and improving food security. With the skills that they have gained through this practical training, the participants use the little resources they have efficiently and profitably to improve their health and nutrition, earn a small income and help others in the community.

Thanks to the money raised from the Wheels Appeal hundreds of Community Development Coordinators all over the world can enable communities to help themselves.

Please do come and support the Mothers’ Union on Wednesday 24th October at 10am in the Church Hall.

Please also support our Fashion Show on Thursday 4th October, in aid of AFIA (see page 9, and the details below).
