St Patrick’s Day Party

For one night only the Patron of our church hall changed to St Patrick as we enjoyed an amazing Irish Night organised by the Social Committee.

As we entered the hall we were met with an aroma of Irish Stew & baked potatoes, I had the vegetarian one which was delicious, there was home made soda bread which was useful for mopping up the gravy.

Pudding was a chance to try Irish apple pie which has an interesting twist, that being it's made with potatoes so pomme de terre instead of pomme from a tree! It was served with an ice cream, I heard someone say it was delicious and they were unaware of the twist.

While waiting for dinner we could puzzle over an Irish quiz, there were lots of rounds, Geography, History, Music, General knowledge and a picture round of identifying the famous Patricks, my team were really good at this round only missing the one whose surname is Patrick.

After dinner Sarah Brewer entertained us to very professional Irish dancing, one dance in soft shoes and the other in hard tap shoes, she has entered lots of competitions winning lots of trophies.

It was a splendid evening and is already penciled into the diary for next year.
